Annette Knopp is a mystic, meditation teacher, somatic counselor and shamanic practitioner. Drawing from a rich blend of Eastern contemplative traditions, ancient earth-based practices, modern Western interpersonal neurobiology and trauma-sensitive mindfulness, she shares an integrative path to spiritual awakening and living in embodied connection.
Annette will be teaching during the Wisdom and Wellbeing Weeks 2023 about the following topic:
Finding True Connection
In one way or another, we all are seeking true connection. Whether we long for a deeper connection with ourselves, another person, love, nature or spirit – in essence, it’s the same.
Through meditative inquiry, nature based practices, and inspiring lectures on interpersonal neurobiology, Annette invites us to attune to the innate interconnectedness of life and relax into the source of the Sacred.
As modern human beings we all are endowed with a meaning-making brain that tends to mis-interpret overwhelming or painful experiences as something indicative about who we fundamentally are: separate and inadequate.
Whether our personal favorite version of that notion translates itself into I am not good enough or I am too much or I am unlovable or don’t really matter, etc. – it is nevertheless untrue – an innocent misunderstanding that creates a lot of suffering in all of our lives.
When we believe that we are essentially separate and deficient, we continuously look outside of ourselves for something or someone to make as whole. It’s an endless, and ultimately hopeless chase, for ‘more’, ‘better’, or ‘different’ than what is here, right now.
In her offerings, Annette draws as much from the ancient wisdom of Indo-Tibetan contemplative traditions, earth-based practices of the Andes as well as modern Western parts-work therapy and interpersonal neurobiology to befriend, see through and gradually undo the painful mirage of the ‘disconnected deficient me’.
The aim is to be at home – to find true connection and belonging in our essential being and existence – more and more in the midst of our everyday life.
More About Annette
With 30 years of exploration, Annette Knopp is a seasoned guide in the realm of consciousness. She is a mystic, meditation teacher and healer who mentors clients from all over the world in their unique journeys of awakening and transformation. Since early on, Annette has had a deep love for Spirit which was nurtured by her connection with the natural world.
Suffering from depression in her early twenties led her to seek relief in Eastern wisdom traditions and the practices of Yoga and Thai Chi. Since then, she has developed a rich background in the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi, Indo-Tibetan meditation (Mahamudra, Dzogchen), Shamanic energy medicine and modern Western modalities of psycho-spiritual integration (such as IFS, DARe, interpersonal neurobiology, trauma-sensitive mindfulness and sacred theatre).
She is a full mesa carrier in a shamanic lineage of the Peruvian Andes, a certified DARe-practitioner (Dr. Poole-Heller’s relational trauma work), a Yoga teacher trained in various traditions and an ordained Wisdom Keeper in the Order of Universal Interfaith (OUnI). Annette is especially grateful for the teachings of Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche, Tsoknyi Rinpoche, the earth-based practices of the Q’ero and the embodied wisdom of her somatic trainers Diane Poole Heller, PhD, and Patti Elledge, SEP.
Together with her husband, Stephan Rechtschaffen, Annette cofounded in 2009 the retreat center Blue Spirit in Costa Rica.
